Okay, suppose I'd better post a quick entry, cos everyone else seems to be.

First off, thanks to all of you that have faved or are watching me.  It's a very humbling feeling to know that you wonderful people like my work enough to want to see it regularly and to know when I put up new stuff.  It really is very flattering.

So, what have I been up to recently that you haven't seen?  Well, a few weeks ago I finished the pencils and inks (digital inks no less) on the spot illo for the credits page of the new 'Knights of Pendragon' collection coming from Panini in a couple of short weeks now (according to Amazon anyway).  Following that, I did pencils for a couple of spot illos to be used in Panini's new GI Joe comic.  Not sure which issues they're appearing in yet, but as always, I'm really excited to see them in print.

And that pretty much brings us up to date.  So with BICS (Birmingham International Comic Show) in little over a week, I'm desperately trying to get some sample pages together to show 2000ad.  I had been working on a Dredd strip which is really cool, but the Tooth editor sent me a script to work on after last year's show so figured I should take a stab at that.  It's by my friend Tony Lee and is kinda 'The Great Escape' in space with snakes.  It's coming together quite nicely (and quickly, well the first page anyway), so hopefully, I'll have a few pages done in time.

Anyway, that's all really, so new art when I'm allowed to post the commission stuff and when it's finished for the sample stuff.  I've got a few odds and sods knocking around in my portfolio which I'll get uploaded soon too.

Cheers all

Paul!

Congrats on the news!

I haven't heard from you for ages (you haven't been around on Penciljack etc).

I did the Kapow comic con this weekend - and am looking to get booked onto a few more in 2011. I see you're going to Bristol?

Hope to hear from you soon

Hi Dean,

Great to hear from you. Ironically, I got in touch with my editor today and have had to leave the job I was working on due to illness and just how long it's taken me to get the job done (working a 10 hour day and having 2 kids under the age of 3 isn't really conducive to getting much freelancing done!). Chances are I won't be at Bristol this year due to lack of funds and day job requirements so looks like we'll miss each other once again! With any luck, I'll be at either BICS or the MCM Expo (or both) come October, maybe I'll see you there? Love the Etrigan piece btw

Terrible shame that you had to drop the job. I hope you're not too gutted? Have you got any other bits and pieces on the go at the moment? I've not really had any comic related work - and have, instead, been doing editorial and regular publishing type illustration through an agent. The comic stuff is bubbling away underneath it all though - and I'm gonna keep pushing.

I'm sorry we won't be able to meet up in Bristol. It would have been cool to grab a beer.

I've booked a table at the London Film and Comic Con (July) - and am on the lookout for tables at the other cons happening later in the year - so hopefully our paths will cross at some point.

Glad you like the Etrigan pic. Its really old though - and NOTHING like the stuff I do these days :-D - www.deanbeattie.com (Hope you like the new stuff - its a bit of a departure from the things you'd have seen from me before).

Let me know if your Bristol position changes....

Speak soon

Dean
